10 Round Swiss Tournament Nov 3, 2007: Champion: Raymond P. Tenoso – Pinamalayan / 2nd Place: Mark J. Margarito – Gloria  / 3rd Place: Jayson G. Lozano – Pinamalayan

To break ties, we implemented: Buchholz & Berger

Buchholz: This is the sum of opponents’ scores.  The idea is that the same score is more valuable if achieved against players with better performances in a given tournament. Looks like an ideal tie-breaking method and has been used since the Swiss system was invented. However it has some weaknesses which are addressed by other methods.

Berger: This is calculated by adding scores of the opponents who were beaten by a given player and half the scores of the opponents who she drew with. This has been adopted from round-robin tournaments and is usually used as a secondary method.

For the love of the game,.. we established Mangyan Chess Club last May 31, 2007. To join, all members are required to pay the one-time PHP100 membership fee. Free food!!!, Snack, Lunch and Dinner!

The first Tournament we sponsored was supported by VT for the Venue and Food.
